Visit to Noilly Prat Distillery & Surrounding Area – 1st September 2016

Our client Bacardi Brand Homes has a working distillery, Noilly Prat located in Marseillan, which is a historic town and port in the South of France; TMPR team visited on the 1st September.

Our day began meeting Olivia Cabal the Brand Home Manager of Noilly Prat who had planned a full day itinerary to showcase as much of the area and distillery as possible.

The first stop was to see a local vineyard a short drive away and see the specific grapes for Noilly Prat Vermouth. One of their vineyards looks out onto the port lagoon and a glistening Mediterranean sea.We stood taking in the beauty and toasting the day with a glass of Noilly Prat white wine. Marseillan is renowned for producing some fine wines and some of the World’s best Oysters.


We were fortunate to see the Oyster farm tables, by taking a local boat trip L’Etoile de Thau, where they provided an interesting commentary explaining the careful process of producing the huîtres, which takes around 2 years to cultivate..

Olivia took us to a very special Oyster restaurant in a stunning location called Le St Barth to try some amazing Les Huitres Tarbouriech; these Oysters are a speciality of the region, as well as the original Huitres.


After sampling some more seafood at the popular Pacheline Restaurant by the Port, we arrived back to Noilly Prat to go on a tour of the working distillery, which carefully balances the science of flavour in making the Vermouth and the wonderful history, with the use of barrels that were made 150 years ago!
Stefan the director of wine production guided us through the various stages of the distillery process and we flexed our muscles to stir the, touch the herbs that go in to making the distinctive flavours in the Vermouth.
There are several event spaces, within the cellar area, which make for a wonderful atmospheric dinner as well as a small boardroom for company/ corporate meetings.

Once we had finished the tour we took some time to trial the 4 bottles in production, original, extra dry, Ambre and Rouge. We then had a chance to try our hand at crafting our own TaylormadePR cocktails! Ou la la!
Finishing the end to a perfect day we made our own cocktail using our favourite Noilly Prat, citrus and mixer.

The TMPR team stayed in Marseillan at Les Chambres d’Andrea a charming boutique guesthouse; 5 minutes walk from the port and town.
The pretty garden provided an idyllic space to eat breakfast, relax by the pool and if you are feeling energetic play a game of Petanque, a form of Boules.
